Among children and youth (10-18 years) who visit an emergency department for a sports-related head injury, 39% are diagnosed with concussions, while a further 24% are possible concussions. The Government of Canada recognizes concussions in sports as a public health issue because of their frequency and their potential short- and long-term consequences.
On this PIR Live Event Dr. Paolo Sanzo from Lakehead University join us to discuss the signs and symptoms associated with concussions and how to examine and treat a concussion and/or persistent concussion symptoms. Dr. Sanzo will highlight some of his research projects related to concussions and introduce us to his lab space, showcasing the specialized equipment used in those projects.
